Poha Burger at Amhi Pohekar (Pune) Reviewed

Some YouTubers and online articles have praised Amhi Pohekar's Poha burger. I wanted to find out whether their claims are true or not. So I visited Amhi Pohekar's Sahakarnagar branch in Pune. Let me share with you my personal review of this unique 'Poha Burger.' By the end of this post, you will have the answer to this burning question of 'Is Amhi Pohekar's Poha Burger tasty and is it really worth it?'

I have tasted veg burgers from various places like McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, Vintage Cafe, The Brrgrr Kitchen and many more. All those provide a good range of burgers and they are tasty as well. The packaging done by fast-food chains like McD, Burger King and KFC is great and appealing. Now let's talk about Amhi Pohekar. The branch at Sahakarnagar is tiny but offers a variety of items to choose from. Their menu is filled with delicious Pohe servings starting from regular 'Gharche Pohe' to street style 'Pohe Misal', they have covered it all. But we are interested in the Poha Burger...

Poha Burger: A unique offering

I got a parcel for Poha burger so that I could peacefully enjoy it at my own pace. It is important to note that this Poha Burger is only available in the evening. It can be seen as a drawback but I am ignoring it right now. By the time I was ready to eat it, it had become a little soggy. They had packed it using two paper bowls on top and bottom which made the buns stick inside the bowls. The burger was cut in 4 equal parts. That's it for presentation.

The Taste:

For the taste, I would say it was okay. It was filled with sliced Tomatoes and onions with a typical mayonnaise touch. However, the patty made with Poha was on par with classic Aloo tikki patty. It was too moist and soggy but surely edible. As a complete meal, it was definitely appealing and fulfilling. Not too spicy and not bland either. If you like spicy food, you may find it a little disappointing but I am sure it is okay for most of us. Just imagine eating burger bun with a filling of onions and tomatoes mixed with a generous amount of mayonnaise... and just something to go with it would be a moist patty made of Poha.

Is it worth it?

Yes. For Rs.45 it is definitely one of the cheapest burgers you can find these days. Most other places offer the same size of a burger at minimum Rs.60/70. For one person, it is filling. You will be happy to eat it when hungry. Your stomach will be satisfied and the tongue will crave for more.

Though, I must say that in comparison to other items at Amhi Pohekar, the burger seems a little expensive. This is because they offer Regular Poha dishes at around Rs.25-30, which comes in a generous amount too. So in case if you don't have a light pocket, you may be better off choosing one of the Pohe items. I am sure you will find them more enjoyable.

Rating: 7.5/10

Conclusion:

In the end, I think that the place is a heaven for foodies. Poha burger isn't their speciality. It seems like it is more of a attraction or a way of expanding to a greater customer range. Whatever the reason might be, their Poha burger is unique and its taste is on par with local burger sellers.
